A great find at a local charity shop although I don't have much information about them. The stainless steel handle separates from the glass for easy washing.  the glass is tempered Glass - perfect for hot drinks.

Yesterday I found this lovely china jar in a local charity shop. It has a backstamp but unfortunately I do not know much more about it.

Pink Colour meaning

Pink represents compassion, nurturing and love. It relates to unconditional love and understanding, and the giving and receiving of nurturing.

A combination of red and white, pink contains the need for action of red, helping it to achieve the potential for success and insight offered by white. Pink is feminine and romantic, affectionate and intimate, thoughtful and caring. It tones down the physical passion of red replacing it with a gentle loving energy.

Pink calms and reassures our emotional energies, alleviating feelings of anger, aggression, resentment, abandonment and neglect. Studies have confirmed that exposure to large amounts of pink can have a calming effect on the nerves and create physical weakness in people. Violent and aggressive prisoners have been successfully calmed by placing them in a pink room for a specified amount of time. Exposure for too long can have the opposite effect.

Moss Rose is one of the oldest recorded china patterns, dating back to the 17th century.

 Moss rose china was made by many firms from 1808 to 1900. It has a typical moss rose pictured as the design. The plant is not as popular now as it was in Victorian gardens, so the fuzz-covered bud is unfamiliar to most collectors. The dishes were usually decorated with pink and green flowers. The moss rose design was used by many companies.

The sugar bowl is  Wedgwood, Etruria and Barleston, England. It dates back to the 1940's.

The creation of the Hyacinth Flower

One day, Apollo was teaching Hyacinthus how to throw the discus and, on his striving to impress his lover, Apollo threw the discus with all his force. Immediately, Hyacinthus tried to run after the discus, but was unfortunate enough to get struck by it and injure himself severely! Despite Apollo's effort to save the young man's life with herbs, in the end the young man passed away.
From the blood that was shed, Apollo created a beautiful flower, each petal of which had the letters "AI" inscribed- they were symbolizing Apollo's painful cry...Today we call that flower a hyacinth!

Flamingos

 These famous pink birds can be found in warm, watery regions on many continents. They favour environments like estuaries and saline or alkaline lakes. Considering their appearance, flamingos are surprisingly fluid swimmers, but really thrive on the extensive mud flats where they breed and feed.

Greater flamingos are likely to be the only tall, pink bird in any given locale. They also have long, lean, curved necks and black-tipped bills with a distinctive downward bend.

Tulips

The tulip is one of the world’s most easily recognized and loved flowers. The meanings of tulips coupled with the immediately identifiable shape of their colourful blooms make them a comfortable flower choice. They are not too elegant, too romantic, too big, too small, or too bright; the tulip is always just right. 

The tulip originated centuries ago in Persia and Turkey, where it played a significant role in the art and culture of the time. Most likely commenting on the Turkish tradition of wearing tulips in one’s turban, Europeans mistakenly gave tulips their name, which comes from the Persian word meaning turban. As Europeans began taking to tulips, the flower’s popularity spread quickly, particularly in the Netherlands where a phenomenon dubbed tulip mania set in at one point during the 17th century. Tulips became so highly-prized that prices were sent soaring and markets crashing. Tulips are now grown throughout the world, but people still identify cultivated varieties as “Dutch tulips.”

Pink rose

 Ranging from a subtle hint of colour to deep and bright, pink roses have come to mean joy, happiness, gratitude and admiration. They’re often seen in bridal arrangements, thank you or congratulations bouquets. Considering the word “rose” brings to mind the faint blush of a fair maiden’s cheeks, it’s not surprising these blooms are a favorite to give and receive. 

There are many different variations of pink, from a pale blush to a gentle medium pink to a vibrant pink, each having its own meaning and implication. The palest pink roses are a sign of gentleness, joy and grace. Bridal Pink is a perfect pale pink floribunda rose that is long lasting and offers a spicy scent. The light to medium pink roses can show sympathy or admiration. Lady Diana is a beautiful light pink rose perfect for either emotion. Deep pink roses, such as Laser and Diplomat are perfect choices to show someone how grateful you are to have them in your life.

Christineholm porcelain double serving plates pink rose buds is absolutely beautiful. These two plates feature baby pink rose buds accented with green leaves and stems on each bud. The rims of the plates are accented in gold along with a gold handle. The top plate measures approximately 7 ¾” in diameter, the bottom plate measures 9 ½” in diameter and is approximately 10” in height. Christineholm porcelain double serving plates were made in Japan.

Pink rose

Pink roses are fabulously versatile when you have something important to say. A classic symbol of grace and elegance, the pink rose is often given as a token of admiration and appreciation.  Whether you’re sending thanks, cheering up a friend, or recognizing a romantic occasion, a bouquet of pink roses is the one to send.

Pink roses are a classic—they were the first colour rose cultivated, since pink roses are most common in the wild. The Victorians  depicted it everywhere from wallpaper to upholstery to greeting cards. 

The pink rose has always been associated with feelings of love and gratitude and while darker pink roses are symbols of gratitude and appreciation,  lighter pinks are associated with gentleness and admiration.
