Flowers: the pansy

In Victorian times, certain flowers had
specific meanings because the flower selection was limited and people used more symbols and gestures to communicate than words. But today, with so many flower choices, there are no rules, it is the sentiment that gives the gift its meaning.

Pansy is French for the word "pensee" or thoughts as in a pensive person deep in contemplation. The white pansies with purple markings, according to legend, represent being pierced by Cupid's arrow. Therefore, the white pansies with purple marking make a perfect flower gift for Valentine's Day or anniversary. Another pansy myth is that the face of the pansy flower will remind you of the face of someone you love. If you are wondering why some people are called "pansies," it might relate to the fact that pansy flowers are delicate.

Life is good.
